Child star to sue television network

THE creator of hit sitcom Hey Dad! has admitted he knew that actor Robert Hughes had allegedly molested former child star Sarah Monahan, who last night announced she plans to sue network executives.Monahan, 33, went public last year with claims that Hughes, her on-screen father, had often groped her and dropped his pants in front of her on the set of the show, which ran from 1987 to 1994.Gary Reilly, the show's executive producer and creator, admitted to A Current Affair he had "stand-up rows" with Hughes about the alleged abuse, which had driven Hughes to resign. Reilly had originally denied knowledge of the accusations.Monahan, from her US home, said she was "frustrated and angry" the abuse had been ignored and was considering civil litigation against Channel Seven executives.Hughes has denied the claims.
